- We would like to welcome you to our two beautiful facilities conveniently located in Plainfield and Oswego. As you come through the doors you are immediately welcomed by the friendly reception staff and the spacious lobby with complimentary Wifi. Our inviting front desk staff will help make your registration process quick and easy. Once registered, one of our friendly podiatric medical assistants will bring you to one of our comfortable examination rooms where you have your choice of music to listen to during your brief wait. If any x-rays are necessary, our assistant will take you for your x-rays so the digital images will be ready and waiting for you and your doctor to review right there in your room. Also, family members are always welcome to join you during your visit.
- The Doctor's Visit
- Your visit with Dr. Bailey starts with a simple history of the injury or illness taken by the podiatric medical assistant. The doctor will then look to expand upon that history to pull out any important details that may help with your diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Bailey is a big believer in Doctor – Patient communication as one of the keys to successful treatment. If he needs to sit down and talk with you and your family for longer than usual in order to get all the information necessary, then that is exactly what he will do. Dr. Bailey will then perform his examination and review any x-rays or diagnostic imaging available. After a thorough history, examination, and review of diagnostic imaging, he will go over the primary and the differential diagnoses.
The primary diagnosis is the diagnosis your doctor feels is most likely the primary cause of your symptoms. A differential diagnosis is a possible alternative diagnosis that could be responsible for symptoms, but based upon all the information available at the time, it is less likely. Reviewing possible differential diagnoses is an important step for patients to be educated and informed about their condition. An educated and informed patient will almost always feel more comfortable with medical decision making and treatment selection, which is what Dr. Bailey will discuss with you next. During your discussion with Dr. Bailey regarding treatment options, he will likely offer you a number of treatment options depending on the condition and the severity. There are times when the condition is so severe that there can be very little discussion regarding treatment because only one treatment is appropriate – this is the exception, not the norm.
In general, most of the conditions treated on a daily basis have multiple treatment options available. Dr. Bailey believes the patient should participate in and drive the medical decision making process. He is there to offer his medical opinion, answer any questions, and if necessary, help make the medical decision for you. After a treatment decision is made, most treatments are available on-site, at the time of the visit.
- Checking Out
- After your visit is complete, the podiatric medical assistant will review any important instructions given by your doctor and will answer any remaining questions. She will also dispense any medical equipment, prescriptions, written instructions, or samples prescribed by the doctor. After leaving the exam room, you will stop by the front desk to check out and set up a follow-up appointment if necessary. If outside medical imaging or testing has been ordered, our front desk staff will guide you through the process of scheduling and insurance verification and will answer any question you have. Lastly, we have a convenient retail store located in our lobby for any ancillary foot and ankle products you may wish to purchase.
